TED BORZYMOWSKI
I
started playing accordion at age 6, joined my first band at age 14, and
recorded my first album in 1973 at age 16. Playing mainly polka music,
I became the leader of my own band called “The Boys” in 1980.
The Boys had a legion of polka fans, traveled extensively and by 1990
I had recorded and helped produce 5 albums. In 1991, I joined Lenny Gomulka
and the Chicago Push and played accordion on three Grammy nominated recordings.
I spent 1997 playing accordion with The Jimmy Sturr Orchestra and from
1998 to 2004, I helped form and performed with Charm City Sound and produced
4 recordings.
The past two years I have appeared with The Polka Country Musicians from
Connecticut. I have been very lucky to play with many talented musicians
during my musical career and I’ve been a part of bands that have
garnered numerous USPA and IPA Awards.
I met my wife, Karen in 1992 and we were married in 1998. We have been
blessed with two beautiful daughters, Rachel and Brooke. Over the years,
I’ve made many friends across the country and I have called upon
some of them to help me in this endeavor. I have enlisted the help of
13 musicians and vocalists who have won countless awards including 16
Grammy Awards and 40 Grammy nominations.
I’ve told you how I’ve gotten here and I guess all that’s
left is the why. I feel that I am blessed to be in a position to help
others and the best way I can do that is through my love of polka music.
Karen and I decided that anything we did for charity would benefit children
and the charity that we chose is St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
St. Jude’s is a pediatric treatment and research facility and has
completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and catastrophic
diseases. All patients at St. Jude are treated without regard to the family’s
ability to pay.
I hope you enjoy the creative efforts of all the talented people on this
recording and I thank you for supporting Polkas For Charity and St. Jude
Children’s Research Hospital.
